At Waldrons we run a Waldrons Junior Lawyers Group who take over the in-house social events and discussions of how we can raise money for charity.
Covid-19 permitting, the team like to meet regularly to discuss upcoming events and possible ways in which the workplace can assist local charities.
We are currently in the process of collecting unused Christmas Presents and unwanted items within the house that we can donate to charity. The charity which supports Russell’s Hall Hospital says staff are now facing the same physical and emotional challenges as at the onset of Covid-19 due to the surge in cases caused by the Omicron variant. We thought it would be a great way to assist the local Hospital by donating any unwanted gifts, toiletries and food that may be useful to the Hospital.
They have confirmed the following:
● £5 could cover a hot meal for a frontline staff member who is unable to leave the ward on a 12-hour shift;
● £15 could fund a wellness pack for one of their extremely stretched staff members, particularly those in financial hardship;
● £50 could help provide emotional support for a nurse at the end of a gruelling shift; and £10,000-£20,000 could refurbish a staff room where staff can relax as they spend some much-needed time away from wards.
● There is also a just giving page where you can donate money at justgiving.com/campaign/NHSThankYou.
We will provide you with an update once we have collected all of the gifts and taken them to the Hospital.
We also run a charity tuck shop and monthly dress down days where members of staff can ‘dress down’ for a donation of £1. This money is collected and given to our chosen charity. We vote within the company to change the chosen charity each year so we can help as many charities as possible.
It is a great way to be able to give back to the Community and local Charities whilst hosting fun and exciting events in-house.
