The start of the year sees the naming of our new Charity of the Year, Black Country Women’s Aid. Waldrons’ Junior Lawyers have already taken part and helped out with several activities for Black Country Women’s Aid late last year, so it’s great to work with them on a more regular basis for 2024.
Black Country Women’s Aid has operated in the Midlands for more than 30 years, and helps over 8,000 victims of abuse. They provide services including domestic abuse refuge and community support; rape, sexual violence and childhood sexual abuse support; forced marriage and honour based violence support; children and young people’s services; therapeutic services; and support for female offenders and women with complex needs.
The Charity was also named as one of the two charities for donations to be made by our former Managing Director, John Roberts family, so it’s fitting that our two organisations will be working together more closely this year.
