Unless the Government makes it legally mandatory for employees in any sector to be vaccinated against Covid-19 or any other disease employers should think carefully before imposing such a policy themselves.
Employers may wish to take steps to encourage vaccinations – the Government has suggested publicising the importance of vaccinations, allowing time off to be vaccinated and to amend sickness absence policies so they do not discourage attendance at vaccination appointments.
The No Jab No Job approach however leaves employers open to disability and possibly other types of discrimination claims (age and conceivably religious and belief discrimination).
