With the second lockdown announced to start at 12:01 Thursday morning the Government has announced the extension of the furlough scheme. Employers have flexibility to bring staff back part time and furlough them part time or to furlough them full time. Employers are only, based on current guidance, being asked to cover the employer national insurance contributions and employer pension contributions. The same salary limits apply with regard to 80% of salary or £2,500 whichever is greater.
The Job Retention Scheme has also been extended – the rules are exactly the same and this covers those who furlough part time and work part time. To b eligible employees have to been on the employers’s payroll as at 23:59 on 30th October 2020. There is a minimum claim period of 7 consecutive days.
