Resolution, an organisation of family justice professionals committed to dealing with family breakdown issues in a conciliatory and constructive manner, has confirmed that Ministers have today announced the Divorce, Dissolution and Separation Act 2020 will come into effect on 6th April 2022.
This is later than had previously been indicated, but it is anticipated the additional time will enable the Family Courts to prepare their IT systems to be able to deal with the changes in the Divorce and Dissolution process.
Resolution, together with many Family law solicitors and other organisations, have been pressing for the No Fault Divorce for many years. When the law changes, this will enable parties to reduce conflict when divorcing or dissolving their Civil Partnership which is likely to assist in dealing with arrangements for the children and finances in a more amicable, and civilised way.
