Although you may not have purchased a property previously, if you are buying with someone else and one of you has previously purchased a property but the other hasn’t the purchase would not qualify as a first time purchase. This can also apply if you have owned a holiday home abroad or inherited a property.
So, if you are buying alone and have never owned a property before anywhere in the world you will be classed as a first time buyer. The same applies to couples as long as neither party has owned a property anywhere in the world.
